Olympic Cyclist Shah Firdaus Grateful for ikhlas.com’s Umrah Sponsorship Announcement

Reading Time: 2 minutes

National track cycling athlete Muhammad Shah Firdaus Sahrom’s long-held dream became a reality today when Ikhlas Com Travel & Umrah Sdn Bhd (ikhlas.com) announced that they would sponsor his Umrah pilgrimage, along with his parents. The exciting news was revealed on Hot FM radio this morning.

The surprise announcement was made by Ikhlas Kamarudin, CEO of ikhlas.com, during the station’s morning segment. He was joined by his younger brother, Ridwan Sahrom, who is also a national track cyclist.

Ikhlas said: “When watching Shah’s interview after the collision, he really seemed devastated and it was obvious that his dream to bring his parents for umrah is real, he really wanted to bring them. So, I was moved to share ‘rezeki’ with Shah and his parents.

“We are very proud of Shah. What happened happened, it was all Allah’s destiny. Hopefully what happened is not the end, but the beginning of something much better, inshaAllah. Congratulations to the entire family of Shah Firdaus.”

Ridwan said: “Encik Ikhlas, on behalf of Shah and also his family, I would like to thank you very much for the help that Mr. Ikhlas have given to sponsor my mother and father and also Shah (to perform) umrah.”

Shah Firdaus, who had shown great determination in the keirin final, ultimately finished in sixth place, leaving him heartbroken as his goal of bringing home a medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in the men’s keirin event slipped away.

His disappointment was compounded by the fact that he had promised to take his mother on an Umrah pilgrimage if he won the event in Paris. However, he was overwhelmed with joy when the Chief Marketing Officer of ikhlas.com, Fara Hasan, surprised him with the sponsorship news upon his arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 later that afternoon, along with other national athletes.

Shah Firdaus expressed deep gratitude to ikhlas.com for making it possible for him to fulfill his long-cherished wish of taking his parents to perform Umrah in the Holy Land.

Ikhlas.com, launched in October 2020 during the pandemic, is a Muslim-focused travel and lifestyle platform aimed at making it easier for Muslims to fulfill their religious obligations. In addition to Umrah and halal tourism packages offered in partnership with AirAsia X, ikhlas.com also facilitates the performance of Zakat, Sadaqah, Aqiqah, Fidyah, and Qurban.

With an emphasis on sustainability, the fair utilized biodegradable materials for food and beverage servings and implemented effective waste management practices, aligning with TAT’s objectives for high-value, sustainable tourism.

This year, TAT aims to attract 768,000 Taiwanese visitors to Thailand. By the end of July, there had been 630,332 Taiwanese arrivals, marking a 64% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Embark on India’s inaugural tourist submarine experience in Dwarka, where you can dive beneath the waves to uncover the sunken remnants of this historic city. Seize the opportunity to join this groundbreaking adventure!

Religious tourism in India is currently experiencing rapid growth, and this momentum is about to receive a remarkable enhancement with the Gujarat government’s pioneering initiative to introduce submarine tourism. This visionary project will allow visitors to delve into the ancient underwater city of Dwarka, offering a unique blend of adventure and spiritual exploration. By tapping into the allure of Dwarka’s legendary history, the government aims to create a one-of-a-kind tourist attraction that will draw both domestic and international travelers eager to witness this submerged marvel.

The ambitious plan has taken a significant step forward with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Gujarat government and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders. This collaboration will pave the way for the creation of India’s first underwater tourism facility, specifically tailored to offer tourists an unparalleled experience of Dwarka’s rich historical heritage from beneath the ocean’s surface. The introduction of submarine services represents a groundbreaking moment for India’s tourism sector, promising to set a new standard for heritage tourism in the country.

The project is anticipated to launch by Diwali in October 2024, marking a transformative milestone in India’s tourism landscape. As the first of its kind, this venture will provide travelers with an immersive journey into one of India’s most iconic mythological sites, blending the thrill of underwater exploration with the deep spiritual significance of Dwarka. This innovative approach to tourism is expected to not only boost the local economy but also place India on the global map as a destination for cutting-edge, experiential travel.

Underwater tourism in India

The forthcoming submarine tourism initiative in Dwarka is poised to be a pioneering venture in India, marking the introduction of the country’s very first underwater tourism experience. This innovative project represents a significant leap forward in India’s tourism landscape, building on a deep-rooted tradition of developing religious sites to attract visitors and emphasize their spiritual and cultural significance.

By offering an unprecedented opportunity to explore the submerged city of Dwarka, this initiative is set to provide visitors with a truly unique perspective on one of India’s most storied and revered locations. This new attraction aims to enhance the already diverse and dynamic array of spiritual tourism experiences available in India, adding a fresh and exciting dimension to the nation’s rich heritage and cultural landscape.

Ancient legends recount that the city of Dwarka was submerged beneath the Arabian Sea following the departure of Lord Krishna from the earthly realm, an event that heralded the beginning of the Kali Yuga. The submerged ruins of this city, steeped in mythological significance, are believed to have vanished beneath the ocean’s surface due to divine intervention, marking a crucial moment in Hindu cosmology and the transition into the age of darkness and moral decline known as the Kali Yuga.

The opportunity to explore these underwater remnants of Dwarka will not only offer a deeper connection to the region’s spiritual roots but also serve as a testament to the enduring power of mythology in shaping India’s cultural and historical identity. This submarine tourism initiative is expected to draw both domestic and international travelers, eager to immerse themselves in the rich narratives and ancient mysteries that lie beneath the waves, further solidifying India’s status as a premier destination for spiritual and heritage tourism.
