Experts Converge for Caribbean Tourism’s 2024 State of the Industry Conference

The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) is gearing up for its premier State of the Tourism Industry Conference (SOTIC), slated for September 2-6, 2024, at the Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa in the Cayman Islands. Under the banner “Caribbean Tourism: Fueling our Lifeblood,” the event will delve into the shifting paradigms of the sector and underscore approaches for a durable and resilient future.

Featured prominently at the conference will be Anton Edmunds, General Manager of the Country Department Caribbean Group at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Edmunds will discuss the horizon of tourism investment and economic enhancement in the region, emphasizing sustainable and equitable growth through public-private partnerships.

Janelle Hopkin, President and Managing Director of the acclaimed Spice Island Beach Resort in Grenada, will offer insights from a managerial perspective on adapting to changes in the tourism environment. As a leading figure in Caribbean hospitality, Hopkin will outline pioneering methods to improve customer experiences.

Melanie Chen, Chair of the Caribbean Energy Chamber (CEC), alongside Eugene Tiah, President & CEO of CEC, discussing the role of sustainability in regional progress.

Christus Gill, a Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association’s Tech Task Force member and co-author of the AI Guidebook for Caribbean Tourism.

Richard Moss, Senior Sales Manager for North America at the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority, exploring the confluence of sales strategies and AI in the industry.

SOTIC serves as a critical platform for discussing pressing matters that influence the Caribbean’s tourism industry, bringing together a wide range of regional and international experts, policymakers, and influencers to craft strategies aimed at enhancing competitiveness and sustainable development in the sector.
