Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, praised the unparalleled beauty of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. Highlighting the increasing congestion at well-known tourist hotspots, he emphasized the government’s dedication to promoting lesser-known destinations. Shekhawat assured that efforts are underway to enhance and showcase these offbeat locales, aiming to provide tourists with unique and serene experiences away from the crowded mainstream attractions.

Addressing the media at an event held at the International Convention Centre (ICC) on the picturesque banks of Dal Lake, Shekhawat conveyed the Centre’s commitment to improving infrastructure at these virgin tourist spots. He stressed the importance of better road and mobile connectivity to make these hidden gems more accessible and enjoyable for visitors. The minister’s remarks, reported by the Kashmir News Observer (KNO), underscored the necessity of diversifying tourist options to alleviate congestion and offer a more varied experience to travelers.

Shekhawat acknowledged the undeniable fact that the most prominent tourist destinations are currently experiencing heavy footfall, leading to congestion. He reiterated the Centre’s all-out support in developing the required infrastructure at these lesser-explored locations. By focusing on improving connectivity and facilities, the government aims to provide tourists with the opportunity to explore the pristine and untouched beauty of Jammu and Kashmir, thus spreading the influx of visitors more evenly across the region.
