On July 31, the curtain rose on the Second International Ecotourism Season in Jiuzhaigou. This year’s theme, “Indulge in the Fairy-tale Jiuzhaigou, Experience the Charm of Ecology,” marks another step toward transforming Jiuzhaigou into a world-class ecotourism hub. With its rich natural treasures, Jiuzhaigou has successfully integrated cultural and tourism development, significantly benefiting local communities economically through increased tourism.

The celebration kicked off with an elaborate cultural and tourism event aimed at preserving and enhancing ethnic traditions while showcasing the area’s rich cultural and touristic offerings. The highlight of the evening was a majestic song and dance performance titled “Landscape Becomes Art, Heavenly Secret Realm.” This performance was split into four segments, beautifully incorporating Jiuzhaigou’s intangible cultural heritages like Nanping Tunes, Zhou Dance, and the Dengga Ganzhou (Panda Dance), offering a breathtaking display that married ecological beauty with cultural depth.

Throughout the year, Jiuzhaigou has intensified its focus on management, service enhancement, and thematic promotional endeavors. These efforts include strategic marketing collaborations within the region, special cultural and tourism promotional activities aimed at major travel markets, and the development of educational tourism paths. This strategic approach has paid dividends: in the first half of the year, Jiuzhaigou hosted 3.5 million visitors, up 23.8% from last year, and tourism revenue reached 3.64 billion yuan, a 19.6% increase. Additionally, the area saw a significant rise in inbound tourists, with numbers surpassing 133,000, highlighting the growing appeal of Jiuzhaigou’s inbound and outbound tourism sectors.
