The Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) has unveiled the third season of its acclaimed video web series, My Home Virginia, now available on the agency’s website, YouTube channel, and at Virginia Welcome Centers.
Season 3 of My Home Virginia highlights Virginia’s significant impact on the lives of local athletes. This season introduces viewers to Keira D’Amato, a world-champion marathon runner preparing for the Olympic trials; Jon Lugbill, a former watersport world champion transforming his hometown’s sports culture; and Nicola Cranmer, the coach of the renowned US Women’s Cycling team and a recent Roanoke resident.
My Home Virginia is a narrative-driven series that follows prominent Virginians to the beautiful places they cherish, showcasing the state’s inspiring landscapes through stunning visuals that evoke feelings of awe and upliftment.
Virginia welcomes thousands of visitors each year, attracting travelers to its scenic beaches, storied mountains, vibrant cities and towns, and pastoral landscapes. But, as the saying goes, “Home is where the heart is,” and Virginia’s charms are most evident to its residents. My Home Virginia pays tribute to what makes the Commonwealth so special.
My Home Virginia Episodes for Season 3
Episode 1: Jon Lugbill
Jon Lugbill, a Whitewater Slalom Canoe Racing legend with 12 world championship titles and a Wheaties box feature, is now the executive director of Sports Backers. This organization fosters vibrant communities through active living. Residing in Richmond, Virginia, Jon enjoys paddling on the iconic James River rapids, mountain biking, hiking, and climbing. His passion for the outdoors has also driven Richmond’s Dominion Energy Riverrock, one of the nation’s largest outdoor sports and music festivals.
Episode 2: Nicola Cranmer
Nicola Cranmer, originally from southern England, now runs the professional women’s cycling team TWENTY24 in Roanoke, Virginia. As a former professional mountain biker, Nicola has led her team to multiple Olympic medals and world championship titles. She moved the team to Roanoke in 2022, drawn by the region’s perfect training conditions and supportive community. Roanoke’s natural assets, including the Blue Ridge Parkway and challenging trails, have made it an ideal home for Nicola and her team.
Episode 3: Keira D’Amato
Richmond local and pro distance runner Keira D’Amato fell in love with running in high school and has since broken numerous records, including the American women’s marathon record in 2022 with a time of 2:19:12. Keira’s favorite place to run is Pocahontas State Park, and she finds Richmond’s diverse landscape perfect for training. Outside of running, Keira owns PR Walk & Run and values the strong sense of community in Richmond that keeps her motivated and supported.
My Home Virginia is part of VTC’s broader marketing efforts to promote the Commonwealth as a premier travel destination.
