Thailand Tourism Festival 2024 welcomes all to experience The magic of Thailand’s regions

Hosted by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the occasion is poised to showcase an array of unique tourism experiences, focusing on soft power and subculture. This year, the event is also observing its second installment of the ‘Zero Waste to Landfills’ campaign, aligning with the broader movement towards sustainable and net-zero tourism. Anticipated to draw 150,000 attendees and reach 20 million viewers, the event promises a dynamic platform for exploration and engagement.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, said “The Thailand Tourism Festival 2024 will incorporate distinctive identity and attractions from five regions to inspire travellers to explore new travel experiences across the country. The event will also reiterate sustainable tourism practices while leveraging digital transformation and the ‘partnership 360 strategy’ to encourage year-round travel.”

Accompanying the TAT Governor at today’s press briefing were key figures including Mr. Somchai Chompoonoi, TAT Executive Director of the Eastern Region, Mr. Akkarawit Taphasit, TAT Executive Director of the Central Region, Miss Pattaraanong Na Chiangmai, TAT Executive Director of the Northern Region, Miss Wajanan Silpawornwiwat, TAT Executive Director of the Southern Region, and Mr. Auttaphol Wannakij, TAT Executive Director of the Northeastern Region.

Emphasizing sustainability as a core value, TAT acknowledges the significance of organizing an environmentally-conscious event. In its second year promoting the ‘Zero Waste to Landfills’ initiative, TAT has forged partnerships with QSNCC, PTT Global Chemical, Cirplas, and N15 Technology for waste management. Throughout the event venue, 20 waste separation stations, featuring Thai and English signage, alongside staff, will encourage visitor participation.

Last year’s ‘Zero Waste to Landfills’ endeavor successfully segregated 12,271 kilograms of waste for proper disposal, thereby reducing the carbon footprint by 27,420 kilo carbons, equivalent to the absorption of carbon dioxide by 3,046 trees annually.
